A common question that people sometimes come up with is whether or not they can learn well from video content. My answer is almost always the same. Yes, you can learn really well from video content – almost as well as you can from text – but not quite.

Why is this?

Well video is more interesting. There are things moving around, which is always good for occupation of the mind. There is usually an audio track built into the video too so this gives the chance to learn visually and through sound too – twice the power. A great example would be this DAT test prep.

Actually, as I said at the beginning of this article, I still think that learning from reading is the best and most effective form of study. This is because you can take your time to read and understand everything before moving on. You can work at your own pace, which isn harder to do with video. And of course, there’s also the issue that often videos take ages to load and spend what seems like a lifetime buffering. Of course, written products do not have this problem, not even ebooks because they are so lightweight in terms of file size.
